Vancouver Art Book Fair 2026 Recap
This’ll stand for most of my weekly update, because honestly, the three days exhibiting felt like both a month and a few seconds. In short: I HAD SO MUCH FUN AHHHHHHHHHHHH
I mean, could it have been any other way? When I visited VABF for the first time last summer, I left super inspired and overwhelmed with everything that was on display. This time was much the same, though being on the other side of the table obviously changed the perspective (literally and figuratively lol). The best part was that it was only a train ride there and back, which meant I didn’t feel as bad when I brought something new or forgotten the next day.

Ciara, my tablemate and editor in chief of Chthonic Lit, was wonderful company, and we had a great time refining our spiel(s). Friends old and new stopped by the table, on purpose and also extremely on accident (lots of finger pointing and what-the-fuck-are-you-doing-here exclamations), but we also got to meet some really cool folks that were interested and excited about what we were doing.
Some notable meetings:
a practicing occultist
a time-traveler (no, I will not elaborate)
the head of my program at BCIT from 2014 (12!! years!!! ago!!!!!!!!)
I also experimented with a new format for the first time for “Secrets From The Garden”, and debuted it on the last day after fixing a few things I’d miscalculated. Very proud that it worked out, really love this little guy (see video on Instagram here).
Finally, I can’t believe I managed to get as big a haul as I did, but I tend to go a little wild at these things. I definitely don’t have as much spending power as I did previously 🥲 Can’t help myself!! Sue me!!! (but actually don’t 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲) Life is too short to not buy ephemera based on vibes.

Hope to be back next year!
THIS WEEK
Work begins in earnest to finish pieces for my solo exhibition in July. I’d like to wrap up one of the bigger pieces by end of next week.
Catching up on editing! I have deadlines for both SAD and Chthonic Lit looming, but not feeling too bad about that.
Clearing up the maze of my house, with most of the debris being from fair prep.
