Weekly Update #5
Hopping back on the wagon(ish) to post a recap of the last little while, calling it a weekly update for continuity reasons lol
LAST WEEK(s)
The main body of the large piece mentioned in the last update is finished, and I’ve mapped out the letters that I’m going to weave chains for, using aluminum rings. The letters were really what gave me the most trouble, idea-wise, and gave me the biggest block when it came to progress on this particular work.
High-fives all around for completing the most recent editing cycles!!! Working with the SAD editorial team has been new and interesting, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the final product for this upcoming issue.
Went to my mentor’s reading and met up with some friends for a nice little picnic at the park.
Visited Hand & Sew, a local leather supply shop that’s so close to me it should be criminal, and had the BEST time looking through their offcuts section. Planning to experiment and make some journal covers, maybe some small accessories. I got really into restoring leather bags a couple summers ago and still have a bunch of supplies I can use.
Making progress on some chainmaille projects! Took up the pliers for the first time in a while and dug into some more ambitious workings. I also have a couple markets coming up soon, and want to get wackier stuff ready for a market application due at the end of the month.
I FILED MY TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

THIS WEEK
Slowly getting back into editing previously recorded podcast audio, in preparation for an upcoming live episode. I’ll be back at Word Vancouver with SAD, and this time we’re getting more of the local writerly and readerly community involved!
I have an older iMac sitting in my closet that might work better for editing, so I’m going to try and find a spot for it out in the living room.
Experiment with more of my traditional art supplies. It’s hard to put aside dedicated time for this when I have a bunch of other stuff I’m arguably “good” at to do, so I’m poking at ways to make the process more joyful/silly/relaxing.
PERSONAL
Summer sucks ass. It’s my WORST season and I always feel absolutely disgusting because I can’t regulate my temperature on a good day, let alone when temps reach the high 20s and above. Also because of all my other possible chronic illnesses 🫠 Might try and get out for actual vitamin D at some points since I don’t want to continue looking like a malnourished shut-in, but I will hate it.
It was my birthday! I’m 35! What the fuck! Somebody asked me how it felt the other day and I was like, I don’t know!!!
